Long Beach >> A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged on suspicion of multiple counts in connection with the sexual assault of a mentally impaired woman in January, police said Monday.

David Faavale Tautolo of Signal Hill was arrested Friday after police received a tip and located the suspect in the area of Warren and Anaheim streets, according to police.

The crime occurred on Jan. 14 at approximately 1:30 a.m., when a male suspect kidnapped a 53-year-old mentally impaired female from a parking lot in the area of 15th Street and Long Beach Boulevard and sexually assaulted her.

On Monday, Long Beach police presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. The District Attorney’s Office filed eight felony counts, including sexual assault, criminal threats and kidnapping.

Tautolo is currently being held in Long Beach City Jail on $4.5 million bail.
