Today we've received in our mailbox a black envelope from Jolicloud, announcing the powerful and amazing Jolibook netbook device!

This month, according to the Jolicloud developers, something big is going to happen in the world of little computers. Jolibook, will be a netbook device powered by the Jolicloud 1.1 operating system, it will have a next-generation N550 CPU, a 250GB hard disk, and a LED LCD monitor.

"Designed for people who live in the cloud, it's running the new Jolicloud 1.1 and comes pre-loaded with Chromium, Facebook, Spotify, VLC, Skype, and a bunch of cool apps that are one click away."

"With its super fast dual core Arom N550 processor, its gorgeous screen, its 250GB hard drive, and its affordable price, it should not stay on the shelf very long!"

At this time we have no idea who's the maker of this netbook device, at what price it will be sold, nor how many units will be available. So, stay tuned for more information about Jolibook, right here on Softpedia!

As we stated in our Jolicloud 1.1 Hands On article, the OS will be provided as an upgrade for existing Jolicloud 1.0 users. It will be based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx), and supported until April 2013. But, the good news is that future patches from Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) will also be added in the new Jolicloud 1.1 release.

Moreover, Jolicloud 1.1 will feature a Linux kernel 2.6.35.4, which provides faster boot/resume/suspend functionality, the latest drivers for video and sound cards, webcams, or Wi-Fi cards, out-of-the-box support for Broadcom, Poulsbo and Nvidia hardware components (yes, that means you won't have to manually install any drivers or modules).

Starting with the Jolicloud 1.1 release, Softpedia will be an official download mirror for the Jolicloud operating system! We will also be very thrilled to have the Jolibook netbook in our hands, to test it thoroughly.
