GNOME 3 Theme Added to Ubuntu 11.10

Canonical added the default GNOME 3 desktop theme, Adwaita, to the default themes of the upcoming Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system, due for release on October 13th, 2011.

Yes, you heard right: Adwaita is now part of the default themes of the upcoming Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system, alongside other popular themes, such as Ambiance and Radiance (see the screenshot below).

However, accordingly to a Launchpad bug, it appears that the Adwaita theme was already installed in Ubuntu 11.10, but not listed in the default themes selector. As of yesterday, September 25th, Adwaita appears in the theme selector, as the bug was fixed.

Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2 has just been released last Thursday, September 22nd, and it brought Linux kernel 3.0.4, the GNOME 3.2 Release Candidate desktop environment, LibreOffice 3.4.3, music lens for Banshee, nicer LightDM theme, improved Unity 2D and full support for Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and other script languages.

In the same news, we are announcing that the final versions of the Mozilla Firefox 7.0 web browser and Mozilla Thunderbird 7.0 mail client have been added in the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system as of today.

Ubiquity, the Ubuntu installer has been also updated with user pictures and improved support for webcams, in order to take a picture of yourself while installing Ubuntu on your PC.
