Matt Cardle has debuted a first look at the video for his upcoming single 'Run For Your Life'.

The X Factor winner will release the Gary Barlow-written track next month. Appearing on BBC Breakfast, Cardle premiered a short clip from the song's accompanying promo video.

The footage showed Cardle singing to camera, which interspersed footage of a female love interest. The former painter and decorater also sings while in front of a large video projection of the woman.

Discussing the track, Cardle said that he was "really, really happy" to have had the Take That star write for him.

"We had 90% of the album written, and then really late in the process, Gary sent the song through," he explained. "I really related to it. I've been in that position many times, you know, that the song is talking about.

"It's about not being good enough for the person you're with and not being able to give enough. I've actually been trying to write that kind of song for a long time - it's putting yourself down in a clever way."

He continued: "Gary nailed it, and then he let me have a go at singing it. I couldn't pass it up, so I'm really happy about that."

Cardle release 'Run For Your Life' on October 10, with album Letters following on October 17.
