As recent report from the NDRC shows 80 percent of 31 foods witnessed price hikes, including ginger, garlic, apple, sugar and cotton since last October.

The survey compares prices of the same hair care products in Shanghai and Hong Kong, finding Rejoice, a shampoo by P&G Co sells at 75 yuan in Shanghai Carrefour supermarket, while it sells at HK$59.9 (51.4 yuan). That makes the same shampoo product in Shanghai 31.5 percent higher than Hong Kong.

It is not only commodities that price higher over that of Hong Kong. The survey also took comparing samples of products like apples, eggs and oil which also revealing the current Shanghai food price high over Hong Kong.

Another interesting phenomena show the price hike has triggered Shenzhen residents to drive to Hong Kong for daily necessity products.
