PROVO -- Orem police have confirmed they are investigating a Provo police officer for an undisclosed incident.
The alleged incident happened Sunday morning, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez. Orem police were contacted Monday by the Provo Police Department to help investigate one of their officers to avoid a conflict of interest.
Martinez would not disclose the nature of the investigation. He said there were a lot of witnesses to interview and the investigation could take a week.
Provo police did not immediately return calls placed by the Deseret News Tuesday.
If the allegation is true, it would be the second black eye for the Provo Police Department in three months.
In July, Jeffery Westerman, 33, while on duty as a Provo police officer, allegedly threatened to take a woman involved in a minor traffic accident to jail if she didn't expose her breasts to him.
Westerman was fired from the department after the incident and charged with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, and obstructing justice, a third-degree felony.
An arraignment in that case was scheduled for Thursday.
