FIVE thugs who battered and stabbed a disabled woman to death and dumped her naked body on a disused railway line were jailed yesterday.

Gemma Hayter, 27, was forced to drink urine before being killed by the group she thought of as her friends.

Chantelle Booth, 22, her boyfriend Daniel Newstead, 20, and Joe Boyer, 18, were given life sentences for her murder by the Old Bailey with minimum terms of between 16 and 21 years.

Duncan Edwards, 19, was jailed for 15 years and Jessica Lynas, also 19, locked up for 13 years for manslaughter.

All five were from Gemma’s home town of Rugby, West Mids, where she died in August last year.

Sentencing, Lady Justice Anne Rafferty described a “chronicle of heartlessness” and said the group had “hunted in a pack”, adding: “Your behaviour was vile.”

Welcoming the jail terms, Gemma’s family called her “a loving, vulnerable woman”.
