Closing thoughts

Collaboration between grassroots and legacy media. Continue the
conversation. (several votes for this) Use Google Groups for this
event, build something. Great starting points.

When is the next one? (many votes for this, too)

Is there any sort of advisory panel on new media for OPB? Could there
be?
Learned about technology and the mindset behind it.

When you create an online community, you need an open mind,
collaborate with audience. What does your audience really want?

Marinating. What it takes to put together sustainable, curated
content. What does it take to support that over time.

Talked about what people need under the umbrella of news and the
media.

Desire for a regional forum around online community.

Got a lot of things to think about now.

Leadership of session challenged idea that women aren’t tech leaders.

Limits of technology some times. Didn’t have this meeting online,
wouldn’t have had these conversations online along.

Got a lot of ideas for podcast programs. Ideas for OPB Community
Advisory Board consideration.

Change your letters to OPC, Oregon Public Conversation.

Picked up some new buzzwords, meet new people with exciting ideas.

Tremendous amount of communities we are involved in, difficulties in
managing them.

Still a big gulf between journalism and community. Need and desire is
there on both parts. Another step toward bringing those together.

Tech people turn out to be to much deeper, broader knowledge than they
get credit for.

Some ideas about what you can do to make your blog better, both your
own ideas and through collaboration.

Sessions get people’s brains working, interstitial conversations were
great.

Had fun, great ideas on community engagement. Idea for a political
matchmaking site.

November 10-free panel where editors will give advice to freelancers
in Portland.

Feels good to be invited to the table.

Continue the conversation at Portland Barcamp Oct. 22-23
