NATO soldier killed in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A roadside bomb blast in southern Afghanistan Saturday resulted in the death of a NATO service member, officials said.

"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan Dec. 29," said a statement from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

The exact location of the attack and the nationality of the soldier were not released, Khaama Press reported.

At least 398 NATO troops have been killed in Afghanistan in 2012 -- 309 from the United States, 44 from Britain and 45 from other NATO member countries.
