President Barack Obama “plans to attend a fundraiser later this month to help Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal’s campaign for the U.S. Senate,” the AP reports.
The Blumenthal campaign confirmed Friday that the president will appear at a Sept. 16 fundraising event in Stamford. The president also is scheduled to headline an event for the Democratic National Committee that day in Greenwich.
Blumenthal is battling Linda McMahon, former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, for the seat that will become open with the retirement of Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd.
