A deaf and mute girl was forced to live in a cellar of a family home for nine years while being repeatedly raped by a businessman who treated her as a slave.
Ilyas Ashar, 84, trafficked the 10-year-old girl into Britain so he could fraudulently claim benefits before starting to abuse her.
She was eventually found by chance sleeping in the cellar of Ashar’s £300,000 Victorian home in Eccles, Greater Manchester.
The girl was forced to relive the years of abuse for 49 days in the witness box during two trials which ended yesterday with Ashar’s conviction at Minshull Street Crown Court.
