A few years ago, I planted three flowering quinces in my backyard. I chose them because they are early flowering plants — late winter or early spring —and they are so pretty. I have dark rose, pink and white flowering quinces, and right now they are abuzz with bees and hummingbirds. The flowers don’t last long, but they add a happy splash of color this time of year, writes Cindy Watter, a UC Master Gardener of Napa County.
