PARK HILLS, Mo. (AP) _ The owners of a southeast Missouri facility for disabled residents are facing charges of fraud, tax evasion and exploitation of the elderly.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Missouri reports that 54-year-old Donald Halter of Bismarck and his 50-year-old wife, Christina Halter, have not yet turned themselves in. Charges were filed last week.
The Halters operate Park Hills Manor, a facility for the disabled in Park Hills, Missouri. An investigation began in 2013 after a complaint was filed with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Investigators claim the couple stole a substantial amount of money from a resident, submitted false nurse visit claims, and committed other crimes.
