Updated User Area Print This Article
Many thanks go to David Speake for rewriting our user area, and adding quite a few new options and features to it. It's more aesthetically pleasing, and easy to use. If there are any problems with the new user section, fire off any emails about it to david@evilwalrus.com

Well folks, it's about time you heard it. I was supposed to wait on PHPDeveloper to post their news, but i'm in a hurry to do it before I leave for work, so here goes.

EvilWalrus.com, PHPDeveloper.org, and NewbienetWork would like to preset you with the PHP Developer's Network! The PHPDN is a revolutionary network of PHP sites which will bring a unique skill/trasit to the network, that helps each site benefit from each other.

 Great News! Print This Article
Secrets are the best for of surprise. That's what we have in store for you. A big 'thing' is brewing behind the scenes, but we're just going to rub it in your face and tease you. We do promise it will be something nice, and hopefully somethign the community will use a great deal. Anyhow, look for more news on the secrets in hiding.

Also, I've pushed back the Ew2 release (no big deal) until I can get this 'secret' organized and ready to go. This is vastly more important than Ew2 at the moment. All cooperation and understanding is appreciated.

Ew2 Development Status Print This Article
Hey folks! Just wanted to update everyone on the development status of the Ew2 template system. I'm nearly done coding the template class(s), and I'm getting ready to implement them. So far, they're proving to be much faster than our old sloppy code, and hopefully will make the site quite a bit sleeker.

Also, just wanted everyone to know that a new mail system is being drafted so we can handle our large amounts of emails. This would consist of a normal autoresponder, but we're also backing that up with a 'public relations' team. Hopefully we'll have the complete site renovated by mid-April sometime.

One more tidbit. If anyone is interested in joining our Public Relations Team or just generally helping around the site, email me ( and only me ) at the below address. Things that should be included in the email are as follows: Experience, examples of work, age, location, etc., and possibly any additional information you might care to provide us. Thanks again, and happy Walrusing!

Ew2 En Route Print This Article
Hey folks, me again! Anyways, just wanted to give everyone a 'heads-up' on the future changes to the site. We're preparing to launch a new version of EvilWalrus.com, appropriately codenamed 'Ew2'. Anyhow, if you notice any errors or misplaced content, chances are that we probably already know.

Also, if anyone is interesting in being 'hired' to the staff of EvilWalrus.com as a volunteer graphics designer, we'd be more than delighted to view some of your prior work or possibly a nice littl demo piece for EvilWalrus.com. We'll base your rank appropriate to your skill in the field. Furthermore, if anyone has feature requests for the upcoming 'Ew2' release, please let us know now, as all feature requests will be taken into effect in its early development stage.

All emails pertaining to this news post should be emailed to staff@evilwalrus.com for complete review by our entire staff. Thanks in advance, and happy PHP-ing!

When Server Databases Clash! Print This Article
"In a recent database benchmark test performed by Ziff Davis Media Inc., the company behind PC Magazine, eWeek and other well-known publications, MySQL stands out as a winner. MySQL is presented as having the overall best performance and scalability along with Oracle9i. Also, MySQL excelled in stability, ease of tuning and connectivity. Considering pricing and ease of use, this further strengthens MySQL as being the database server of choice for price-efficient, high-performance web use." - MySQL.com
