1 Timothy 6:7
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.
Life Lesson
In today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) Paul talks about false teaching and true riches.
In meditating over today’s passage the thought which comes to mind is a shirt I got as a gift (many years ago) with the label “Live Simply”. Since I love the inspiration so much I recently bought another one but in a different color. Yes despite evidence, compelling testimony and countless life lessons from others it is sad much too many people believe still to the contrary that money is the answer to happiness. To these folks, “live simply” goes against this belief. And, thus seem to be ensnared in the endless cycle of the more you have or strive for the more happy one will be or become. It’s sort of Like a dog trying to catch its own tail.
Hence my take away today is contained in 1 Timothy 6:17 which says, “…not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.” Furthermore, 1 Timothy 6:10 says also, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”
