A 35-year-old Seattle man was charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree burglary with sexual motivation as part of a police investigation into about 11 similar burglaries and assaults in a large rooming houses just north of the University of Washington campus.

Onelio Abun Cardona-Hernandez, who was arrested Friday, is accused of rape and burglary with sexual motivation in a Dec. 11 sexual assault on a woman living in a University District rooming house.

He also was charged with burglary with sexual motivation at the same house on Jan. 9, involving a second woman, and burglary with sexual motivation at another rooming house on Jan. 17, involving a third woman.

Bail has been set at $1 million for Cardona-Hernandez, whose arraignment is set for May 21.

In charging documents, prosecutors said Cardona-Hernandez is suspected in seven or eight similar incidents in the same time period and same area that remain under investigation by Seattle police.
