Woman sentenced for torturing mentally disabled stepson
A woman accused of torturing her mentally disabled stepson has been sentenced to life in prison.Rebecca Beyer, 46, was sentenced in Pottawattamie County on Thursday morning.Beyer was found guilty of first-degree kidnapping and willful injury (causing serious injury) in early May.The 20-year-old victim testified that he was confined to the kitchen and garage for extended periods of time with the specific purpose of injury.Read: Extreme torture, kidnapping laid out in affidavitAssistant County Attorney Amy Zacharias said, according to a presentence investigation, Beyer never expressed remorse for, apologized for or admitted to torturing the victim.Zacharias said the victim is now in a group home and doing great.

A woman accused of torturing her mentally disabled stepson has been sentenced to life in prison.
