Jersey agencies in bid to protect vulnerable adults

The police and social services will aim to work better together in the future to protect vulnerable adults in Jersey.

A new committee will attempt to protect vulnerable adults from harm mirroring the way the Child Protection Committee looks after children.

The new scheme will seek to ensure groups such as the police and social services work together better.

The policy and committee is expected to cost the States of Jersey about £100,000 to set up.

Ruth Johnson from Health and Social Services said it was important to look after older people as islanders live longer.

She said evidence showed people could come to harm if agencies did not pull together.

A new committee and policy group will examine practices and policies in an attempt to ensure adults are protected in the same way as children.
