Cycle storage solutions
Thinking about a few ways to keep my shed a bit tidier (and fit a couple more bikes in...)
Had a look at some examples, does anyone use any of these? Not convinced that something like the veloman or peruzzo actually saves space over simply standing the bikes up, what about the cycle hooks to hang the bike from the wall? will this not damage the front wheel? If it doesn't damage the bike, I would assume something like the Mottez would be the best storage/space solution.

If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

The blue hook thing is the best/cheapest solution - if you have more than one machine fix them at different heights so that the bikes can be closer together without a clash of handlebars (I say that as someone with 9 bikes on hooks on the wall of my garage ... oh, and another 3 or 4 standing on their wheels on the floor )

Re: Cycle storage solutions
Hi there,
Well i think Rob has the best solution. I’ve not got a lot of space in my house so i’ve been looking around. I had a look at this bicycle racks place but can’t see what you’re looking for. So i had a look for cycle hooks instead. There’s not much online about it... but there is a vertical bike locker here: ezrshelving.com ... no prices on it though and it would take up a fair bit of space!!
Did anyone find any single hooks for hanging a bike in the end?

I have a bike hoist - which is basically a couple of hooks and pulleys that allow you to raise the bike to the ceiling. Cost about £10 from ebay, doesn't damage the bike and keeps it out of the way. Also doubles as a useful workstand for adjusting gears, etc.

Wow that's cheap. Time to get on ebay! Thanks, Frank

Lidl did bike hoists a few months ago. Not used mine yet so can't vouch for quality, but it was cheap.

I was looking at a Lidl bike hoist, or at leat a carton containing one, at the Heckmondwike Lidle yesterdat £4-99. Loads of cycling shoes in stock there and one rather nice handlebar bag that had come out of the box, although all the bits looked to be there. Unpriced.

Re: Cycle storage solutions
I bought a Topeak Two-Up, which is very similar to one in the list you provide, through a forum ad recently. The limitation is that the upper and lower bikes interfere with each other if you don't have enough height to separate them well. It didn't quite work for my original planned place.
However, I keep some bikes in our fairly-accessible loft, and I am using it successfully for bikes with their wheels out there.
It's quite an expensive approach.

I purchased a Lidl bike hoist last year. It was utterly useless, for multiple reasons. I just can't condemn it enough. The best thing I can say is that at least I only wasted a fiver

Re: Cycle storage solutions
If youve got a ceiling strong enough to support bikes with enough clearance underneath to make it worthwile, I'd suggest using pairs of the heavy plastic coated hooks you can screw into the joists. They need to be roughly a wheelbase length apart. I've half a dozen bikes stored hanging from my garage ceiling like that. My joists are just the right distance apart to allow them to hang from adjacent joiists so long as they are top to tail. To avoid the need for any sort of hoist I present the back wheel to a hook first, gripping the top tube and down tube. If you try to get a front wheel up there first, it's impossible without steps or similar. I've posted a pic a couple of times but it's now in the darkness of what used to be my gallery.
Re: Cycle storage solutions
Heres mine on hooks, ceiling height in shed only 7feet ,so hanging by front wheel is no problem.
