A Hunter Valley man has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in relation to the death of his severely disabled daughter.
The nine-year-old girl, who cannot be named, was found dead by her father in her Hunter Valley home in July 2011.
She suffered cerebral palsy and depended entirely on her family.
A coronial inquest was previously told she died from internal injuries and blood loss.
Her father was charged with manslaughter last year.
Today, when asked to enter a plea in Newcastle District Court, the man paused before forcefully saying the words, "not guilty".
He shook his head as the matter was listed for trial in February 2016.
