Iran says NATO missile shield serves Israeli interests

The deployment and expansion of NATO's missile defense shield into the Middle East serves Israeli interests, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told state-run ISNA.
"There are dubious intentions behind the story which raised concerns in regional and Islamic countries, neither are we a threat to regional countries and nor any country in our region [except the Zionist regime] is a threat," Mehmanparast was quoted as saying by ISNA.
With respect to the stationing of missile shield batteries within NATO-member Turkey, Mehemanparast expressed the hope that Iranian-Turkish friendship would help resolve the issue.
"Turkey is our friend and neighboring country, we have reflected our concerns to Turkish officials and we declared that there is serious worry over the plan," ISNA quoted the spokesman as saying.
