A Grinch stole Christmas from a Georgia mother of a child with disabilities who received a nasty note after legally parking in a handicapped spot.

Alyssa Steele parked in a spot reserved for handicapped drivers when she went out to dinner with her family–including her 5-year-old disabled daughter–in Atlanta, according to WSB-TV.

When she returned to her car, she discovered a shocking note scrawled on a paper napkin on her windshield which questioned her right to use the coveted spot in front of the restaurant.

“You are not handicapped. You are a sorry sack of sh*t. Merry Christmas! I have reported your license tag to Cobb Sheriff’s Dept,” the note read.

Steele was stunned.

“It’s really sad that people can be so quick to judge others. I don’t understand how they felt it was their place to say anything let alone how they phrased what they said,” she told a local television station.

Steele’s daughter suffers from a condition known as a Chiari malformation, which causes part of her brain to come out of her skull, the mother said.

While the condition isn’t always visible, it causes the adorable little girl to tire quickly and requires her to be on oxygen and to wear a helmet and leg braces.

“We’ve been through a lot,” Steele said. “I definitely was hurt and made me kind of question how people can do something like that.”

The note's author threatened to call authorities on the mother, whose daughter's disability is not always visible.

Steele attempted to find the author of the note to no avail but hopes the incident will spread awareness about not jumping to conclusions.

“I wanted to change the situation … instead of how we were affected by it … we can spread awareness to other people who are struggling with disabilities that are not seen to the eye,” Steele said.

Sadly this is not the only time this year that a mother of a disabled child has been berated for using a handicapped parking spot.

A Colorado mother of a severely disabled 10-year-old girl was left a typed note calling her “lazy” for using a handicapped spot in a Target parking lot in September.
