A 20-year-old Orange Grove Center staff member has been charged with whipping a client.

Nile Johnson was arrested for physical abuse or gross neglect of an impaired adult.

The incident occurred at an Orange Grove group home on Crestwood Road.

Several Orange Grove personnel said a group home resident who has an intellectual disability and is non-verbal threw his dinner on Johnson.

They said Johnson escorted him out of the room and began hitting him with a belt  all over his body.

He had red marks on his left elbow, both hips and back and bruising on an arm that appeared to be a hand print.
