Southampton’s Dejan Lovren could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines following an injury sustained in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

The defender, who had scored a 31st-minute goal at the Stadium of Light, was stretchered off two minutes from time following a collision with Craig Gardner.

And despite posting a picture of himself with a protective boot and crutches as he headed to therapy earlier today, the Croatian’s latest tweet suggests all has not gone to plan.

He simply wrote: ‘Sh*t’.

It is currently unclear what the extent of Lovren’s injury is, but his social network activity will have Southampton fans concerned.

Lovren’s team-mate Gaston Ramirez, who was stretchered off at the same time on Saturday after a tackle from Wes Brown, has also been pictured on Twitter with heavy protection on his injured ankle.
