Pa. special education teacher charged with sexual assault of 4 students

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) -- A special education teacher at a Pennsylvania high school has been jailed and suspended from her job over allegations she's had sex with four students.

Forty-eight-year-old Michelle Mellinger faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 4 on charges including institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors and statutory sexual assault with four boys ages 15 to 17.

Police say they were contacted Friday after McKeesport High School officials overheard students talking about the sexual activity. Police in McKeesport and neighboring White Oak, where some of the sexual activity allegedly occurred, contacted Allegheny County police, who filed the charges.

Mellinger allegedly sent text messages to the boys before she'd pick them up and take them to her home in White Oak and a McKeesport residence for sex.

Online court records don't list a defense attorney.
