Bye in Portuguese

Bye in Portuguese is “tchau", and it’s pronounced just like the Italian “ciao". Brazilians however have enormous vocabularies and Brazilian Portuguese is a language that is constantly and rapidly evolving, becoming ever more colorful.

  • Até logo – see you soon.
  • Até mais – see you later.
  • Beijo(s) – kisses. Super common when saying bye in Portuguese.
  • Um abraço – “a hug” 
  • Vou nessa - used for saying “I’m leaving” or “I have to go.”
