Product Description

Product Description

Adventure is moments away when you set up the Coleman 8-Person Instant Cabin. Pre-attached poles make setup a simple matter of unfold, extend and secure, so your cabin and the integrated, vented rainfly are ready in about 60 seconds. If it rains, the WeatherTec system and its patented welded floors and inverted seams will help you stay dry. Inside, there's enough room to stretch out on two queen-sized airbeds, and two storage pockets help to keep small items organized. When it's time to head home, the tent easily packs up into an expandable carry bag with a rip strip until you're off on your next adventure.

Nothing kills a campsite buzz like a tent with too many poles and too little instruction. Enter the Coleman 14x8 Foot 8-Person Instant Tent, a two-room tent that sets up in less than a minute. The tent is made using an innovative one-piece design, with poles that come pre-attached to the tent. That means there's no frustrating assembly and no parts to lose. Simply unfold the tent, spread out the fabric, extend the poles, and click and lock. The only thing easier is rolling out your bag and sleeping in the open.

The tent's poles come pre-attached to the tent body, helping you pitch the tent in less than a minute.

Made of heavy-duty 150D polyester taffeta, the 14x8 Foot 8-Person Instant Tent is every bit as sturdy as its traditional counterparts. The tent is outfitted with Coleman's exclusive WeatherTec system, a series of technical features intended to protect you from inclement weather and nasty storms. WeatherTec tents are built with a coated polyester fabric combined with anti-wicking thread, webbing, and zippers, all designed to keep you dry when the rain comes down. The tent's welded waterproof floor and inverted floor seams, meanwhile, dramatically increase the water resistance by hiding the needle holes inside the tent and away from the elements.

The tent is also fully taped, eliminating the need for a separate rainfly. Add in a strong, wind-responsive frame and you have a shelter that performs like a brick house during a storm. In fact, Coleman is so confident in its WeatherTec system that it exposes its WeatherTec tents to a rain room that simulates nasty downpours, and to a wind machine capable of blowing hurricane force gusts. The results? Even after the tests, Coleman guarantees its WeatherTec tents will keep you dry. It stands 76 inches tall in the center and includes room for two queen airbeds. The tent weighs 37.7 pounds and carries a limited one-year manufacturer's warranty.

The tent sleeps up to 8 people in its 112-square-foot footprint. About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.

In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Big tent, but...
I do alot of camping during the warmer months (and I live on the coast) there is a place called Freeman Park in Carolina beach where you can drive your 4wd on the beach right by the ocean (or by the dunes) and set up camp for up to 2 weeks.I've been using this tent regularly, over 10 times a season, it's so easy to set up I can do it all by myself if I am alone, but it's easier w/ 2 people working together. My 1 complaint is the Fabric is thin and gets holes in it very easily. I use duct tape on both sides of fabric whenever I find a new hole on tent, right now it has 5 patches on it. So the next tent I buy I will purchase from a store where I can actually see it.Even if I spend twice the money, since I camp often I want a better quality tent. Now if you only camp in warm or hot weather & not on the beach you may very well be happy with this Coleman 8 person tent, it does have lots of room inside it.I use a queen size raised airbed & a twin size airbed for a friend and there is still room for supplies.

I just took this tent to Burning Man and loved it!! I chose this one because you can fully enclose it to keep the dust of the Playa out of the tent. It's a great tent, very spacious and so very easy to put up and take down (goes up easier than it comes down). Had our triple height queen bed in the back and a table and chair in the front.

My only gripes are that 1) sometimes it's challenging to close the door zipper with one hand as the outside flap tends to close in and snag the zipper, sometimes requiring two hands to close it, and 2) as others have said- the stakes that come with it are a joke. You must upgrade them to more heavy duty ones for stability. But all in all- not the end of the world, and not worth docking a star even as this tent rocks!!

As for wind, I don't understand why so many people are complaining about this in the wind. At Burning Man we experienced extended dust storms and some very intense high winds. I'm wondering if the people who say this doesn't do well in the wind are even using the guy lines at all. You must use the guy lines to help with the wind, there is no doubt.

Here are some tips for using the guy lines:
1) as many have stated you MUST upgrade the tent stakes- that's a given.
2) be sure to use the LOWER loop of the little plastic adjuster on the guy lines (it's easy to not pay attention and use the top loop, which will seem taught but will then loosen in high winds). (if you are not familiar with how those tension adjusters work, there are videos on YouTube that will help. I had to have a friend show me :-)
3) make sure that the angle of the guy lines are at a 45 degree angle coming down from the tent, this angle will give your guy lines the most strength. It makes you have to take a winder path walking around the tent, but if you are concerned about wind- this is a must do
4) make sure that the stakes are put in the ground also at a 45 degree angle such that the top of your stake points AWAY from the tent! If you put them in straight up and down or at an angle not away from the tent, they will for sure loosen with ongoing wind.

I hope these suggestions help someone. Follow these tips and I don't think you will have any trouble with this tent in the wind :-)

I have been a fan of Coleman products for a long time, so Coleman was one of the first places I looked when I was shopping for new camping gear. I was not originally looking to buy an "instant" tent, per say, but I did want one that required minimal effort to set up. After looking at Coleman's offerings, I noticed their "Instant Tent" line and was immediately intrigued. I did a decent amount of research and, as with most Coleman products, the "Instant Tent" series was highly regarded and well reviewed. I was a bit reticent to purchase an 8 person instant tent thinking that it might be just too bulky to set up like the smaller models, but wanting the additional space to spread out, I decided on this tent. Right after it arrived, my wife and I set it up on the lawn. Due to packing material and our unfamiliarity with it, it did take more than a minute to put up, but just barely more. We set it up a few days later, and since we had done it before, it went up incredibly easily. Big tent or not, Coleman has really worked out the kinks and made this product incredibly usable. Do not convince yourself that "sets up in 1 minute or less" is a gimmick: it really does set up that quickly. Even with just one person, you can get the tent up in a few minutes, but it is easier with two people. The excellent construction/build quality is exactly what you'd expect from Coleman. This tent has only one door, but that is definitely not a problem. The windows are large, the bottom tarp is durable, and the zippers are heavy duty. Unlike most tents I've been in, the interior is 6' tall or better, so you can comfortably stand. Since I like to be prepared, I did purchase the corresponding Rainfly. My only negative comment is that with any "instant" product like this that is designed to fold in on itself, it does not compact as small as non-instant products, but the benefits far outweigh that. Overall, I think this product is great. It's the excellent Coleman quality you expect cleverly designed to go up and come down fast, without sacrificing on the quality and features you want. I really look forward to using this more!

5.0 out of 5 stars 2人で簡単に組み立てられます
Reviewed in Japan on May 13, 2016
