More than a dozen LR arrests tied to Riverfest

The Little Rock Police Department took reports of a dozen criminal incidents tied to Riverfest over the weekend, including two reports of assault, three theft-of-property reports and seven public-intoxication arrests.

One assault case occurred about 8:25 p.m. Sunday at Markham Street and LaHarpe Boulevard. Zachary Alexander, 26, of Donaldson was seen "groping several females" as he entered Riverfest, Little Rock police wrote in a report. He smelled strongly of alcohol and and was "unsteady on his feet," police said.

After Alexander was told to leave, he chucked his sunglasses at an officer, striking the officer in the chest, police said. Officers pepper-sprayed him, which subdued him, and arrested him, the report says.

On Saturday, a man was arrested on a third-degree battery charged after a fight broke out about 7:50 p.m. at 200 River Market Ave. Corey Smith, 29, of Star City, provoked a fight with Zachary Jenkins, 35, also of Star City, after Smith spotted Jenkins with Smith's ex-wife at Sticky Fingerz Chicken Shack, police said.

Smith began "taunting" Jenkins to fight, according to the report. Smith told Jenkins outside the restaurant that he was going to "kick his a," and a fight ensued, police said.

In other incidents, Kyle Williams, 22, of Sherwood was arrested on theft-of-property charge over accusations he stole 150 Riverfest bucks and used them on food and rides, police said.

Callie Jane Clark, 31, of Mount Pleasant was arrested on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges after, police say, she tried to sneak her son into Riverfest without an armband, spewed expletives after being told that wouldn't be allowed and later slapped an Arkansas State Police officer across the face after he tried to eject her a second time, police said.
