A Vancouver man has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a homeless and disabled man five years ago.

Aaron Dale Power, 37, has been charged with one count of second-degree-murder after being taken into custody Wednesday, according to Vancouver police.

He’s accused of murdering Michael Nestoruk, whose body was found near Sir Guy Carleton Elementary in East Vancouver in April 2009.

Nestoruk was wheelchair-bound, having only one leg, and also reportedly suffered from addiction.

The discovery of his body sparked a campaign for tips, with authorities offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Nestoruk’s killer.

Police said Power is well-known to police and has an “extensive” criminal background.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
