Once In A Lifetime Learning Opportunity

So, I’m here and asking for your help…
I’m currently studying an MA in Music and The Environment - something I would never have considered even twelve months ago. The shift in my perspective regarding learning and my own worth has mainly occurred in this last short while, and after 40-plus years of self-doubt, I am beyond relieved.
My wife is also studying. We were just about making it through each week, until a (supposed) minor car service just before Christmas turned into a replace-the-brakes-if-you-want-to-survive-type-deal. So, yes, things are tight.
The (Second) Chance Of A Lifetime
I thought I’d peaked having had the rare and fantastic experience of working under the tutelage of Leah Barclay and Annea Lockwood last year, but it’s as though I’m being pushed to further challenge myself every day. New stuff keeps cropping up. And now, I’m on the brink of another amazing opportunity - a chance to learn with one of the masters of modern minimalism. Thing is, it’s a secret right now! It’s not been formally announced - but, I’ve secured a place, AND been awarded a grant towards part of the cost of the residency, but I’m still short to the tune of a ton over a grand.

Any funds raised through your generosity will go towards the following:
Travel costs: £230 approx
Remainder of residency fee: £859
Terribly expensive and terrible in-flight food: £11
The travel costs are difficult to pin down until time of booking the flight, which is why the approximate figure… The in-flight food bit is a joke just to round up the figure, because in-flight food IS a joke, right?
What Happens Next
I’ve never ran one of these campaigns before, and have always thought it would be better suited to launching some music etc… Unfortunately, between my wife and I both studying full-time, my working one-day-a-week for a local charity, and the frenetic scheduling of child-care between two full-time students, there’s very little scope for me to find the time or energy to secure extra wages. So here we are.
There are thousands of more urgent and worthwhile causes than sending me off to a dream residency, and if reading this bit makes you reconsider donating to this and you put your money in the coffers of one of those causes instead, I’ll be extremely happy. That said - maybe you know me; maybe I’ve made something that’s meant something to you; maybe I’ve sent a daft message once that made you laugh (or roll your eyes); maybe I’ve supported you in the past with one of your endeavours; or maybe you just love music as much as I do, and you have faith that when I say this opportunity is a big deal, then it really is A BIG DEAL. If you do choose to support me in this, I don’t know if there could be any way for me to express how grateful I would be. That said - despite the fact that this is not a tiered, rewards-based platform - what I will do is this: I will keep a daily blog of the time I spend at this residency, with pictures, and hopefully film and audio (dependent on organisers’ and participants’ T’s & C’s) too, and share it with you. I’ll also write and record a piece of music as a direct response to my experiences there, and I’ll only make it available to the donors of this campaign.
So yeah, I get that this is a weird one, but I have to get going in order to pay the deposit to secure my place, or it goes! I don’t want to drone on and on about how special this secret is to me, so I won’t. As soon as this is announced formally, I’ll be updating donors who contribute to this. If you do manage to guess what I’m havering on about (you could have a punt at the key?) please don’t get me in trouble by posting anything on this page…
