Three workers at a Tuckahoe group home have been charged with abusing a disabled woman for allegedly slamming her foot in a van door and then lying to cover it up, officials said.

All three will appear in court Jan. 27 to answer felony charges in a recently-unsealed 16-count indictment.

Monsurat Dindi

The incident occurred Oct. 9, officials said. A developmentally disabled woman living at 1A Ridge St. was being moved into a van so she could be taken to another location. The group home, which is in Tuckahoe but has a Bronxville mailing address, is operated by the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, a state agency.

According to the state Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, "the woman cried out in pain when the leg supports to her wheelchair were smashed as (the defendants) closed the van's wheelchair lift door."

The workers allegedly didn't do anything to help her and it was several hours before the woman got treatment for injuries that included a fractured foot and lacerated toe.

Kimm Thompson

Kimm Thompson, 49, of Albany and Monsurat Dindi, 54, of the Bronx were both charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a vulnerable or disabled person, felony and misdemeanor counts of offering a false instrument for filing, and misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault and official misconduct.

Maxine Smith, 44, of the Bronx, was charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of offering a false instrument for filing and official misconduct, a misdemeanor.

Bail was set at $5,000 for Thompson and Dindi. Smith's bail was set at $1,000. All were released.

All three have been placed on administrative leave.

Tuckahoe police assisted with the investigation. The case will be prosecuted by Justice Center Deputy Special Prosecutor Jaqueline Kagan.
