Legal pot grow operation goes up in smoke

SEATTLE - A two-alarm fire at a legal marijuana grow business in Seattle awoke residents in the Queen Anne and Interbay neighborhoods early Wednesday morning.

Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore told Q13 FOX News that the fire was reported around 3:45 a.m.

Dozens of firefighters responded to the 2300 block of West Commodore Way and found smoke and flames shooting out of a small one-story building.

Moore said that the fire started in the center of the building and it took firefighters about 45 minutes for firefighters to put the fire out.

Fighting the fire was challenging for fire crews due to the building's security and electrical wiring. There were no reported injuries due to the fire, Moore said.

The business is a legal marijuana grow operation that the fire department has inspected several times, Moore said.

The owner of Sea of Green said the entire crop of about $250,000 worth of marijuana was destroyed in the blaze.
