Q:
How is the restaurant? Was it affected by the fire? Is it open for dine in or take out? I have since learned via their Facebook page that the restaurant is in tact but will remain closed until further notice. Thanks.?
A:
Check out their FB page - they've made a few recent posts. It sounds like their structure itself survived, but it's not clear if it means it was unscathed per se. Mane of their employees were impacted, so they've started a Gofundme.

Is there a kids menu / is this family friendly?
A:
Family Friendly for sure, didn't see a kids menu. But a lot of the menu items are served family style.

Unfortunately closed due to the fire but always loved going here while visiting Maui. Hoping they can reopen soon and share their gift of cooking.

One of the busiest spots in Lahaina, and for good reason. Arrived a little early and requested a table on the first row for the 7pm sunset. They honored our request and we were seated at a great picture spot. The restaurant is all outside under a tall roof open on each side and it is terraced for viewing. Very hawaiiana atmosphere, upscale casual. Our server was Salvador and he was very attentive as were all the staff at Star Noodle. A word to the wise, the parking lot is small so you may have to park in the Safeway lot or the street.
The food is delicious and creative. In my opinion the "must try" dishes are steamed pork buns, look more Funn noodles (that's how they spell it), miso salmon and the Ahi Avo ( which I forgot to photo). Their assortment of noodles is awesome we like the garlic noodles. Start with the Ahi Avo, fresh tender ahi, sliced avocado, cilantro and sliced onion with a special lemon pressed olive oil, it's like a special Poke dish.
Be sure and make a reservation on Resy, and or sign up for a cancellation notice if it's all booked.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Aug 10, 2022Previous reviewBack to Star Noodle. Their menu is vast and you can try new items each visit. We went again tonight, had miso salmon with side of rice, delicious, followed by the Vietnamese Crape, which is a bit messy but excellent. Messy because you have to mix all the ingredients, shrimp & mushrooms in a creamy sauce, cilantro, and Thai basil and put the mix in a piece of lettuce to form a lettuce wrap, top it off with a sweet, delicate chili sauce and then your all set for the many flavors within the wrap. We also, had pad Thai noodles, which were really good. All in all, a great meal with leftover noodles for lunch. Our server Jesica was awesome, just like our last visit. Thanks to Jesica we were moved to an Oceanside table, thank you again Jesica.
Aug 6, 2022Previous reviewWell, back to Star Noodle again and glad to report our experience was great this time. Parked right in front in the lot, seated within 2 minutes and had a front row ocean side table. Well, so far so good, I'm e been luck with parking this last week and getting beachside tables.
So, we decided on Ahi Avo as a starter (first time to try this) it's really a Poke style dish with the ahi topped with lemon pressed olive oil, sambas, usukchi and cubes of avacado. It was delicious and now one of our favs. The Ahi was top grade and melts in the mouth. Next we ordered Singapore Noodles which is comprised of vermicelli, chicken, shrimp, egg, cilantro and very mild curry. This was our first time trying this dish as well and it was superb. Just the right amount of flavors and for those of you who are turned off by curry, it was very very subtle in this dish. Delicious! We also ordered our usual Look Moore Funn noodles (not a typo, that's how they spell it). This is one of our go to selections. It has rice noodles rolled into a tight round plug about one inch thick, with scallops, shrimp, drizzled with black bean sauce. Always awesome but be careful of the side of chili sauce as it's really hot but tasty.
So in conclusion, a total turnaround from the experience of a few days ago. Definitely a 5 star night at Star Noodle.Jul 31, 2022Previous reviewWe really like Star Noodle and when we are in west Maui we always make several reservations for dinner at Star Noodle. It has always been stellar but tonight not so much. It has been 10 months since we dine at Star and things have slipped at bit since then. We have a reservation next week and I hope to be giving 5 stars then.
First, the good:
The Look More Fun Noodles were stellar as usual. One of our favs.
The Hot 'n Sour Noodles were very good, this was the first time we've tried them.
Although we had to wait our table was in an excellent place, second row, great ocean view.
The not so good:
Had to wait 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. Never got a "so sorry for the wait" or any conciliatory remarks from the obviously confused front desk people.
Once finally seated our waiter (name purposely withheld by me) was very slow to get us setups and a menu and even slower getting back to our table to take our order.
Their signature dish, Steamed Pork Buns (one of my favs) were tasty as usual, however, the pork was over cooked a lot.
The Nouc Cham Chicken was also overcooked but still tasty. We did let the waiter know of our thoughts on the overcooked meats in a constructive manner. Hope he tells the chef.Oct 2, 2021Previous reviewThis was our first time to dine at Star Noodle. It was recommended by our nephew who loved it. Well, we agree, it was a very delicious dinner and are server, Teri, was awesome. Her knowledge of the menu was invaluable. We had the Pork buns and Nuoc Cham Chicken, Adobo Ribs, Look Funn Noodles and Steamed Rice. All were delicious and plenty of food for my wife and I. For dessert we had the Ice Cream Trio, which is all made right at the restaurant. The trio was awesome. The 3 flavors were Pineapple Coconut, Cardoman Almond and Jalapeño Pepper. Well, we were dubious about the jalapeño; however it was really good, ice cream with a "kick." All 3 were rich and creamy and delicious. Needless to say, we plan to go back to Star Noodle.

I loved most of my dishes (see pics).

We were luckily able to walk in for dine in late at night! I'd recommend making a reservation as we had to wait for a very long time. However, the kitchen did not close and said that they'd be open until we were finished ordering! The buns weren't special and could've been fluffier. I ended up really liking the nuoc Cham wings as they were crispy and had a perfect amount of sauce. The garlic noodles were also a great base to have with the rest of the meals to balance the flavors. The dessert was delicious! They had limited options but we got the vanilla ice cream that was made in house with matcha syrup.
Nuoc Cham wings 8.5/10
Garlic noodles 8/10
Pork buns 7/10Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2023
Came here for a second lunch because that's how touristy I am and was also able to take the time to enjoy the ocean view. I shared the Lahaina Fried Soup which is really thick, fat chow fun noodles with pork belly and bean sprouts. I didn't really know what to expect since I got it as a recommendation from a friend but I was pleasantly surprised! The noodles are like really chewy rice noodles with a pan crispy exterior which I loved the contrast in texture. The pork belly was a little bit on the fatty side so made the dish a tad greasy but the bean sprouts were crunchy and made the dish more fresh.
We also got the Nuoc Cham Chicken which was boneless chicken pieces with peanuts, mint and cilantro. I didn't really care too much for it because it was unfortunately really dry but the peanuts gave it a nice crunch. It definitely needed a squeeze of lime which we got extras of. Overall a great place with a view and must get the fried soup since it's something unique I never had before.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 21, 2023
Sending aloha from the bay, California :)
(08/02 VISIT)
FYI this place is POPPIN, so don't expect to be able to do walk-ins. They're usually booked out months in advance online, but if you talk to the server at the entrance, they can try to find you a table for the coming week (or weeks, depends on your luck).
We walked in at 4:50pm on a Monday afternoon but weren't able to get seated, so we booked a table for Wednesday of the same week. We were conveniently given a fantastic view of the harbor and ocean.
The food was delicious; I'd recommend trying all of our selections, especially the ahi avo and garlic noodles! A star indeed. Note that the garlic noodles is all carbs since it's just noodles, scallions, and garlic. It complements any meat or vegetable dish perfectly.
I look forward to when this establishment reopens. Mahalo, Star Noodle, for a lovely dinner!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 121152494Aug 2, 2023Updated review
Our last dinner and as expected, delicious!!! Star Noodle is my favorite list spot for Maui!
Had a few new items, chicken wings, fried noodle soup, ribeye, and while not new, asked for a lot of extra crunchies for beet and pear salad and again for the ice cream!! Mmmmmm, sooooooo good!!!
Excellent service again as well! Looking forward to our next trip out to Maui, so we can come back again!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1Jul 30, 2023Previous reviewStar Noodle, our first meal, a list repeat, and in a few days, also our last meal on Maui! Yes, we enjoy it that much!!
I was craving their miso salmon, it was just as I remembered (sooooo delicious!)! My son was craving their pork belly bao buns (he'd be happy with several orders of those to himself!), they were also as good as we both remembered! We also ordered their pork adobo ribs, spicy cucumber salad, beet and pear salad, teriyaki chicken (least favorite dish), oooooh, and their garlic noodles. Tasty as we remembered, but not as crunchy as my son thought they were last time.
The green salad was different from the last time, but I really enjoyed the beets, whatever creamy goodness was on the side with the puffed rice cracker things (loved the texture!) it was quite good!
We ordered both desserts (hey, we're on vacation!) and enjoyed both a lot. My husband said it's the best vanilla ice cream he's ever had (he's old and has had many bowls of ice cream!) and they added more of the rice cracker puffs (mmmmmm!).
We go back in a few days for our last dinner on Maui, and I'm asking for a bowl of the rice cracker puffs to go with both the ice cream and salad! Could not get enough of the textural addition and taste!!
Last time we ordered the ramen, but skipped it this time- garlic noodles were/are better in our opinion. One thing they could approve on is timing... this round, many things were served one at a time, so you didn't (we didn't!) get to enjoy the vast flavors together. And.... No rice, which would have been nice to mellow and balance out all the rich flavors.
We love the food, the service is also quite good.... Very friendly - everyone who works there. The atmosphere can't be beat either, right next to water!
Counting down till our next meal there (6 days!) - Jul 31, 2023Updated review
I would come here with friends and family every time I have the chance to. Coming from Kihei, I hardly come to Lahaina... so when I come to the west side, I have to have Vietnamese crepe!!! It's da best! My next favorite is the pad thai. Delicious sauce!!! Tried their papaya salad... interesting... but I'm not too crazy about it. The BBQ pork bun is always a winner!
I love the open fresh air ocean view...
Always best to make reservations days (even weeks in advance). They get soooooo busy! Our server (junior?) was awesome!
He explained the dishes and gave recommendations for drinks. He is pro active, friendly, polite and professional. When we ordered the pork buns, he mentioned that there were 3 in an order and offered to have the chef prepare 4 pieces since there were 4 of us. That was so thoughtful and astute of him! So impressive. He always had a smile and kept checking on us.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 28, 2023Previous reviewAmazing food with amazing views and amazing service!
Their Vietnamese crepe is the best ever!
Ask for extra lettuce for more wrap.
Pad Thai is always a winner.
We tried the Broccoli Tempura (new on the menu). It was delicious but a bit pricey.
Love the views from this place. Great ambienceNov 30, 2020Previous reviewSo glad they moved to an ocean front open air seating. Online reservation and masks required. The food is great as always. All time favorites, Vietnamese crepe & pad Thai are always winners. Tried the miso salmon, just okay. The hot and sour soup was like western style pho.

Ambiance: ocean front seating and outdoor dining only, full bar service, reservations are made few months ahead and walk-ins are not guaranteed with views
Service: the waiter seemed unhappy and had attitudes with tables to place the order, honestly not quite welcoming
Food: simple menu items for hot shareable plates and noodles
Steamed Pork Buns - **** Roasted Pork, House Hoisin, Namasu, crispy and tasty, recommend
Hot 'n Sour - ** Chili Lime Dashi, Smoked Prosciutto, Shrimp, Cilantro, Thai Basil, Bean Sprouts, Fried Garlic, weird taste
Garlic Noodles - **** Fresh & Fried Garlic, Dashi, Scallions, thin noodles, savory garlic taste, recommend
Price: moderate portions and reasonable prices, about $30 per personHelpful 7Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - 624699Jul 22, 2023
I came here during my birthday week and made a reservation for lunch. It's right on the beach with a great outdoor patio that's mostly shaded.
We were greeted by a friendly host and our server was super attentive right off the bat, recommending some her favorite dishes.
To get to the point, this was one of my favorite meals in the island. We had the pork and kimchi dumplings- served in a really flavorful broth, the pork buns- the bao was super light and fluffy and the pork belly was tender, the garlic noodles- I really like how they were thin noodles, and the shrimp and pastrami noodles- this was my favorite- the broth was sweet and sour and the smoked pastrami gave it a nice savory twist. The cilantro and vegetables tasted really fresh. We also got a side of house made kimchi that was really good- loaded with umami.
My advice for those giving it negative reviews for the Pad Thai. Go to Thailand.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
