Portland dad cited in Tigard after reportedly leaving baby son alone in hot car

Correction appended:

Tigard police on Monday cited a Portland man accused of leaving his baby alone in a car parked outside a Home Depot Friday.

Police responded to the store at 14800 S.W. Sequoia Parkway after receiving a report of the child inside the warm vehicle, Tigard Lt. Rick Rhodes said. A witness pushed down the car's window, unlocked the door and got the child out before officers arrived, Rhodes said.

Fire crews and paramedics responded to the scene and evaluated the child who appeared to be under a year old, said Jim Wolf, a Tigard police spokesman. The child was not harmed.

The father, Peter Cameron Bodmer, 34, soon arrived to claim the infant, Wolf said. When emergency responders determined the child was not suffering from a medical emergency, police reportedly allowed Bodmer to leave the scene.

Rhodes said police were reviewing the case further. On Monday, police cited Bodmer, Wolf said.

The incident has been referred to the

for review.
