Minnehaha man allegedly goes berserk over fireworks

A 25-year-old Minnehaha resident appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of firing three rounds of ammunition into his neighbors’ house after they set off fireworks late Sunday.

Corey A. Moulton faces charges of first-degree assault at his July 12 arraignment. He was ordered held on $200,000 bail. Vancouver lawyer Louis Byrd was appointed to defend him.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Moulton brought a shotgun to his neighbors’ house, in the 4900 block of Northeast 19th Avenue, just before 11 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses told police he pointed the gun at their neighbor’s house and fired three rounds into it, according to court documents.

“You want to blow (expletive) up?” Moulton allegedly said. “I’ll blow you up!”

Moulton then turned toward the witnesses, prompting them to duck behind a car because they feared for their lives, the court documents say.

Moulton admitted to firing the gun “as a show of force,” according to the probable cause affidavit. He told police he was angry about his neighbors’ using fireworks so he fired into their bushes, court documents say.
