There are no words to describe how immensely proud we are of Mr Adam Cunningham, Head of Junior School Mathematics, Upper Two form tutor and Head of CCF RAF, and his sheer determination to cross the finish line @londonmarathon on Sunday. On track for a time of around 3h26m, he sadly broke his leg with 850m to go. Side stepping a water bottle and landing oddly, he felt a searing pain shoot through his leg and fell to his knees. He then shuffled on his bottom for an hour to cross the finish line with such kind support from race marshals.
We know that we aspire to excel beyond expectations here at Exeter School but this is unbelievable! Adam completed the race and received his medal! 😬 Watch him crossing the line at 2:54:25 of the BBC's finish line videos - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/live/c51npxw8v6pt#player
Adam wishes to pass through his thanks to all who have contributed to his fund-raising for the British Heart Foundation - so many staff and parents in our community have donated. If anyone still wants to donate, considering this 'breaking news' (too soon?), please do so via his Just Giving page - www.justgiving.com/page/adam-cunningham-london-marathon-2024?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=p...
