* High School Scoreboard, Friday, 5/23
While most of the lacrosse world will be focused on the action in the sport’s age-old, proud and traditional home base of Baltimore, host of the Final Four, there are championship games in the sport’s always growing, thriving and vibrant No. 1 hotspot, the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tristate region.
The epicenter of today’s varsity action is in the Garden State as New Jersey will be holding its group championship games.
Here’s the rundown.
Group 1 North: No. 3 Glen Ridge at No. 1 Mountain Lakes
Group 2 North: No. 2 Northern Highlands at No. 1 Summit
Group 3 North: No. 7 Morristown at No. 1 Ridgewood
Group 4 North: No. 3 Westfield at No. 1 Bridgewater-Raritan
Group 1 South: No. 10 Johnson at No. 1 Rumson
Group 2 South: No. 2 Somerville at No. 1 Seneca
Group 3 South: No. 3 Moorestown at No. 1 Shawnee
Group 4 South: No. 3 Lenape at No. 1 Southern
There are also Non-Public semifinals.
Here’s that schedule.
Non-Public A:
Seton Hall Prep at Delbarton, 11 a.m.
St. Augustine at Bergen Catholic, 1 p.m.
Non-Public B:
Bishop Eustace at Immaculata, 10 a.m.
Pingry at Morristown-Beard, 11 a.m.
There are also two huge playoff games in Connecticut and New York that were not originally scheduled, but postponed from Friday because of thunder and lightning. Both games are at 11 a.m.
In Connecticut, No. 3 Ridgefield hosts No. 6 St. Joseph-Trumbull in the FCIAC quarterfinals. The winner plays No. 2 Greenwich in the FCIAC semis on Tuesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at Brien McMahon High School.
In New York, the Section 9 Class A title game will be decided as Warwick Valley (16-1) plays Minisink Valley (13-5) at Middletown High School’s Faller Field.
