SANAA, April 20 (KUNA) -- Five people were killed and others injured in
fierce clashes between pro-government armed popular committees and armed
tribesmen in southern Abyan governorate Saturday, an official said.
Two of the popular committees, formed by the government two years ago to
support the army in its fight against Al-Qaeda, and three persons of Al-Saeed
tribe were killed in the clashes that broke out earlier today because of a
feud.
Hussein Al-Wahishi, a leader in the committees, was quoted by Al-Masdar
newspaper website as saying the ongoing clashes also injured many others.
One of the popular committees' members had killed one of Al-Saeed Tribe
four months ago thus triggering the fued. (end)
