A Vancouver man has been convicted in connection with a photo session last year involving a rifle that temporarily shut down a Portland bridge.
Anthony J. Quayle, 30, pleaded no contest Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court to unlawful possession of a firearm. His sentence was not immediately available.
Police detained Quayle and 12 other people at gunpoint last August after 9-1-1 callers reported seeing two men on the Burnside Bridge, one with a bulletproof vest and a rifle under a blanket.
Police said the people were part of a group called "Beards for Breasts" and that they were doing a military-themed photo shoot for breast cancer awareness. Police seized a .223-caliber rifle and body armor from the scene.
Also in connection with the incident, John B. Walterich, 36, of Portland was convicted of criminal mischief last October. He was sentenced to one year of probation.
Police released the other 11 people without any charges.
