Police officers would usually get commended for finding a grow house and getting a drug dealer off the streets.
But instead of getting a medal, two Miramar police officers are behind bars for doing the right thing in the wrong way.
Officer Jean Paul Jacobi and Det. Jennifer Conger were both busted and charged with official misconduct, falsifying records, criminal mischief and trespassing, the Police Department said Tuesday.
Both cops have been with the force for over seven years, but officials said the two went beyond their jurisdiction when they broke into a suspected drug house and found dozens of marijuana plants growing in an apartment.
No wonder we are losing the war on drugs.
The incident happened in July after Jacobi arrested Reginald Beldor, who had a large amount of weed on him during a traffic stop.
Conger, who works on the Narcotics Unit, was called in to interview Beldor and figure out what he was doing and where he was going with the marijuana.

Beldor wasn't talking, but Conger had the keys to his car and decided to take the keys along with her to the address listed for the drug runner.
Once at the Miramar apartment, Conger, Jacobi and another officer knocked on the door, but did not get an answer.
Sensing that there were drugs inside, Conger gave Jacobi the set of car keys, which also had a key to the door.
The cops proved to be right. They found numerous marijuana plants in a bedroom closet and other drug paraphernalia.
After bringing the big score back to the precinct, Jacobi wrote in his police report that the door was already open and he smelled the marijuana, that's why the group went inside. Conger backed up the story.
But the other cop on the scene, who usually serves as a school resource officer, told investigators what really happened.
Jacobi and Conger turned themselves in Tuesday and were being held on $1,000 bond.
