See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

“As you walk up the spiral staircase, you’ll notice the sexy silhouettes of curvaceous Bond girls emblazoned on frosted glass panes, softly illuminated by LED lighting. Unique to the Casino Royale is the extensive custom stonework throughout the interior, including an intricately carved roulette wheel made of stone and petrified wood designed by Jeff Homchick.”

CASINO ROYALE is a 50m/163ft megayacht made by the Vancouver-based Christensen Naval Architects. It has six staterooms total, crews quarters for ten, and a total of fifteen bathrooms, for “maximum convenience,” which I take to mean in case everyone on board needs to vomit at once?! The sun deck has a hot tub, of course, and the yacht is also carrying four jet skis, two Segways, and two Vespa scooters. The boat comes with logo-embroidered towels.

Apparently this is Christensen Shipyards’ first Stern Thruster; insert James Bond pun here. MOST importantly, the boat’s name lights up in blue neon. Gallery of “Fun Photos” here.

Casino Royale is owned by California security-camera mogul David McDonald, and in 2012 was it worth an estimated $42 million. Once, McDonald docked the boat in Stockton (which believe it or not is in a delta), when the city was on the brink of bankruptcy. You can charter the boat from $250,000 per week!

Wednesday July 15, 2015, 11:17am: YP708 is a 36m/119ft U.S. Navy yard patrol boat (hence “Y.P.”) built by C&G Boat Works, Inc. These boats are used by the U.S. Naval Academy to train midshipmen in “seamanship, navigation, naval tactics, communications, naval phraseology and standard procedures.” According to this fact file, YP708 was still under construction as of November 19, 2014, so this boat is relatively new! She has 4 officers, 6 crew, and 30 midshipmen. I also learned that there is a position known as the “Conning Officer” and it is not what you think it is: “The Conning Officer is responsible for the safe maneuvering of the vessel from unmooring, through the daily exercises, and returning safely to the pier.”

Thursday July 9, 2015, 4:22pm: ANDIAMO is an 87.5ft/26.36m motor yacht so sleek it looks like an orca whale. She was built in 2007 by Warren Yachts, and her construction is glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). According to her Facebook page, she’s part of a fleet out of Miami, but she’s stationed in the Hamptons for the summer—you can charter her $52,000 per week. Or if you’re feeling punchy, why not just buy her for a cool $3.85 million. I do not get commission.

Friday June 19th, 10:00am: DAWN TO DUSK (also known as D2D) is a 72′ Aleutian (Grand Banks) trawler-style motor yacht built in 2004-5 in Singapore and registered to Newport, R.I. Her owner is listed as Moloney Merger Company, LLC, which is registered to one Mark B. Bardorf, Esq.; managed by Thomas E. Moloney. In 2008, Moloney and his wife petitioned the Zoning Board of Review of the town of Middletown, R.I. to be granted “dimensional variance” to their lot “to gain needed living space” and “to take advantage of the spectacular view.” They wanted to add a second story and increase lot coverage. The variance was granted, appealed, and finally, in 2009, reversed. Judging by the Google Maps view of their house, however, they eventually succeeded. The Moloneys purchased D2D from Steve Fithian at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, according to the Grand Banks Owners’ Journal.

DELAYED POST: Monday June 15, 2015, 11:18AM: TATS is back from a voyage to Sag Harbor, of all places.

THE BLUE PETER: First boat in a while to have its own Facebook page (with owner’s phone number) and web site. She was launched in 1930 with teak wood collected from Thailand in 1870 (!!!). Her original design was by Alfred Mylne, and she was built by W. King and Sons. Mathew Barker bought her in 1999 and restored her to her current glory: 20m of regatta greatness, available for charter on the French Riviera for €18,000 per week. Her home port is Cannes.

SIMA: This is a 97ft/29.5m classic motor yacht, built in 1983 by Cantiere Navale Margherita and refitted in 2008. She’s usually docked at Liberty Landing, NJ, and is on sale from Curtis Stokes for $1,975,000 (up from $1,500,000 in 2008). You can watch a video of her here.

Private Helicopter Takes Off from Mega-Yacht in North Cove, Violating BPCA and FAA Rules

Allowing a helicopter to take off from a vessel moored in North Cove Marina appears to violate the terms of the Request for Proposals (RFP) under which the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) selected Brookfield Properties to operate the facility earlier this year. That RFP reads, in part, “operator shall not permit the landing of any helicopter or other aircraft in the Marina or any areas in the vicinity of the Marina or on any vessel in the Marina.”

Full story here, including some juicy new details about Tilman Fertitta: “Mr. Fertitta’s yacht, Boardwalk, takes its name from Kemah Boardwalk, an amusement park that he owns, located on the waterfront of Galveston Bay, in Texas. Although Mr. Fertitta is based in Houston, Texas, he recently purchased a Manhattan home within walking distance of North Cove Marina. The full-floor Tribeca condo, near the corner of Sixth Avenue and Laight Street, cost $19 million, and features a hot tub, as well as multiple terraces.”

Monday June 8, 2015, 8:40am: Real busy morning in North Cove. TATS is still here, and she’s joined by a whole cast of characters.

First we have LIBERTAS, a sleek superyacht built by CRN in 2009 and registered to the Cayman Islands. She’s 127.95ft/39m, and sleeps up to 12. In November 2013, she was listed for sale with an asking price of €8.95 million ($12.3 million at the time); it has since been lowered to €8.45 million. Cool features include: a “tender garage,” walnut woodwork, and a sundeck hot tub.

Next up we have BOARDWALK, at 164 ft/49.98m. This superyacht is owned by billionaire restaurateur Tilman Fertitta, CEO of Landry’s, Inc., who is also known for buying up distressed restaurants, hotels, and casinos. His trump card is a motherfucking helicopter. His Trump card was buying The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City in 2011 for $282 million less than what The Donald paid on 1985.

BELLA DONNA is a 70ft luxury catamaran built in 2005—she’s extremely difficult to find details on, but here are some specs on her Yapluka sister, 72ft NAHEMA IV. According to this article from 2011, she belongs to Tom and Donna Johnson (??).

INCOGNITO and her voyages are the subject of an incredible boat blog kept by a woman named Kathleen, who with her husband Brad is on some kind of amazing, two-year, 20,000-mile journey they have called the “Chasing the Sun Tour III.” Really can’t recommend this boat blog enough. She is also notable for having had the wooden walls of her three bedrooms replaced entirely with mirrors!

FLEUR ASTRALE is a 20m sailboat designed by Philippe Poupon, built in Lyon after plans by Michel Joubert. In 2013, it completed a 3-year journey from the North to the South Pole. Poupon was joined by his wife Geraldine Danon, and their three children.

WAVELENGTH is a 27m cruising yacht designed by Ron Holland and built by Pendennis in 2002 and originally known as “Boo Too.” In 2003, she was a finalist for Best Sail in the 23 to 36m category of the Superyacht Society Awards.
