A clever alibi was no excuse for a Van Buren woman who was involved in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night.Van Buren police said Derek Parker was stopped in the westbound turn lane of State Highway 59 North and Rena Road at about 6 p.m. when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Flora Burkhart.Investigators said Burkhart not stop, so Parker called police and followed her home at 1700 Elfen Glen Drive.When police asked Burkhart why she left the scene without stopping she said, "I left because I didn't want my ice cream to melt."Burkhart also explained that she didn't think there was enough damage to the vehicles to call police. Burkhart was issued a citation for following too closely and leaving the scene of an accident.
