She was born at five months and has cerebral palsy."We don't want this to happen to any other kid out there," said Puol Nuor, Nya's father.Puol said he asked the school to drop his daughter off at home instead of day care Monday, and the bus driver came by around 3 p.m. to tell him Nya would be home around 4:30 p.m."I keep wondering, keep looking outside, there's no bus," Puol said.He called the district's transportation department and the police. Two hours later, he learned his daughter was left alone and locked inside the bus near a barn."What is that bus driver thinking, really?" Puol asked. "Does that person have a kid at all?""There's certain mistakes in life and I understand everybody's human, but there's too many things not adding up," said Suzanne Hatch, Nya's grandmother.Hatch said it's heartbreaking because Nya has overcome a number of obstacles. She just recently learned to walk, Hatch said.The family is asking the school district to step up, explain what happened and fix the problem."Our message needs to be heard," Puol said. "This is not good. This is not acceptable."Nya went to the hospital to be evaluated. Her family said they're not making any extra accusations at this time, but are getting her medical attention.The district issued the following statement Tuesday:"Student safety is paramount at OPS. The district is in contact with police and is cooperating with them in their investigation. The bus driver was immediately placed on administrative leave."
