8,000 construction workers to arrive from Bulgaria

Israel has signed an agreement with Bulgaria allowing 8,000 professional construction workers to arrive from the European country. The Immigration Authority, which lead the initiative, said that a similar agreement is in the works with the Romanian government as well.

According to the authority, the bilateral contracts intend to prevent human trafficking and eliminate the sizeable commission that migrants pay mediators in order to come work in the Jewish state. (Ran Rimon)
