LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Los Angeles deputies are considering whether to charge the caregiver of a woman in a wheelchair who died after she fell down an escalator at a Metro station.
The 48-year-old caregiver was taking the 64-year-old woman down the escalator Tuesday because the elevator was out of service, Los Angeles station KTLA-TV reported Friday.

The escalator malfunctioned and both women tumbled backwards.
The woman in the wheelchair died Wednesday from head trauma. Her caregiver received cuts and bruises.
A Metro spokesperson said the women should have gotten back on the train and gone to the next stop rather than use the escalator.
