Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) talked about his efforts in creating a Bipartisan Transparency Caucus and legislation he sponsored, the Transparent and Sustainable Budget Act of 2011 (H.R.1302 He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Representative Quigley defined transparency as "access, so the public knows what's happening in their government" and he aims to create a new federal budget process that is more transparent. His bill includes tighter lobbying rules and an online earmarks and congressional members database, and would put voting records and hearings online. C-SPAN Radio's Nancy Calo read news headlines at the end of the program.
