Syracuse University alums give $100,000 to disability rights program

Two Syracuse University graduates will give $100,000 to the school's Burton Blatt Institute, which advocates for the rights of the disabled.

The gift from Robert and Carol Tannenhauser is one of the largest ever to the institute, SU officials said.

Robert Tannenhauser, chief executive officer of The Ruxton Capital Group LLC, graduated from SU in 1966. Carol Tannenhauser, an author and journalist, graduated in 1970.

The institute was launched in 2005 and named for a former dean of SU’s School of Education. It has a staff of 65 in offices from Syracuse to Tel Aviv.
