Williamson secures Arden seat

2010 McLaren Autosport BRDC award winner Lewis Williamson will compete in the GP3 Series with Arden this season

The 21-year-old Scot, who finished as runner-up in the 2010 Formula Renault UK championship, had tested GP3 machinery at Estoril in Portugal following the end of last season.

Williamson will join New Zealander Mitch Evans in the team.

"We are absolutely delighted to have Lewis working with us in 2011," said team boss Julian Rouse. "He is obviously a driver with a huge amount of talent and application.

"He has proven time and time again how quickly he can develop and adapt as a driver, so I have every confidence he will enter into his first season of racing in a European Championship being very competitive right from the start. I know Lewis will fit into the team straight away and completes a very exciting driver line up for us this year."

Williamson added: "It is great to be part of MW Arden for 2011 and getting the chance to compete in the GP3 Championship. I am very grateful to the team and Highland Arena for making this possible. They have done a great job from both sides, now it is my chance to do my bit and give a 110% to it."
