Slatington man rapes mentally disabled woman, police say

A Slatington man is accused of raping a mentally disabled woman.

A Slatington man is accused of raping a mentally disabled woman earlier this year in the borough, according to court records.

David Esterly, 59, of the 200 block of East Church Street, was arrested Monday and charged with rape of a mentally disabled person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault and indecent assault.

Esterly was arraigned by District Judge Rod Beck and sent to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

The victim reported Esterly raped and molested her in February; the victim was interviewed by police, but court records do not say when she was interviewed or when the rape was reported.

In an interview with police, Esterly confessed to the allegations, records say.
