Donna Summer, Latest Victim of 9/11 Islamic Terrorists & Friend of Israel, RIP

By Debbie Schlussel

Is singer Donna Summer, who died today of lung cancer, the latest victim of the 9/11 Islamic terrorists?

If her suspicions regarding how she contracted lung cancer are true, then she probably is the latest 9/11 victim.

Donna Summer, RIP: Latest Victim of Islam

TMZ reports:

Donna died from lung cancer.  Several sources are telling us Donna believed she contracted it by inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City.

I would not be surprised if she was correct, since we know that many of the first responders and survivors of the attack contracted all kinds of illnesses, including cancer and respiratory diseases. The air there was definitely toxic as a result of the Muslims’ attacks. And I’m sure there are many others who died as a result of inhaling that air . . . people whose names and numbers are not included in that list of those killed by Muslims targeting America and Americans.

I was sad to learn of Summer’s passing, as she was a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. I liked a lot of her disco songs from the ’70s and ’80s. Some of them are a regular part of my workout music and help keep me going. I especially liked “On the Radio,” “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” “MacArthur Park,” and her duet with Barbra Streisand, “Enough is Enough” (even though it is a feminist anti-male song, it’s good a good beat and I use it for when I’m running on the treadmill). But my favorite Donna Summer song is “Bad Girls”–the song about hookers–a lot because I often use it on this site to describe whores on the left AND the right (and it’s one of my workout tunes, too, with a great track along with terrific jazz trumpets and saxophones in the background). I used some of the song’s lyrics for my column on then-Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Melvin “Butch” Hollowell, when he got caught soliciting a prostitute at a seedy Detroit donut shop. My late father used to hilariously mock “She Works Hard for the Money,” when that video came on the screen, when I watched MTV (and it still featured music videos).

Donna Summer was really hot in the ’70s and early ’80s with her string of disco hits. And she performed in Israel, never listening to Palestinian and Muslim boycott demands. Last year, she performed at the annual fundraising banquet of the Israeli Leadership Council (ILC) in Beverly Hills. The ILC helps to foster a strong American-Israel relationship and includes projects such as donating to Israeli victims of Islamic terrorism in Sderot, Israel.

But she wasn’t always classy or worthy of applause. One of her hit songs, “Love to Love You Baby,” was notably filled with mock orgasm noises and moans. Yuck. After her career faded, she remained big among the gay community, a community which I’m sure will refuse to recognize that . . .

Muslims killed Donna Summer.

Donna Summer, Rest In Peace.

Her big hit “Hot Stuff” was given a comedic “poetic” reading by the late Steve Allen in the early 1980’s, both on his short-lived 1980-81 “Steve Allen Comedy Hour” and a guest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” I can still hear his deadpan/stentorian “Hot, hot, hot . . . stuff, stuff, stuff” in my head to this day. As for Ms. Summer’s oeuvre, besides that one, I’ve long been partial towards “Last Dance,” “Heaven Knows,” “Bad Girls,” “On the Radio” and “She Works Hard for the Money.” Her rendition of “MacArthur Park,” not so much, since Richard Harris’ definitive version (produced by its writer, Jimmy Webb) has been hard-wired into my head for eons. And “Dim All the Lights” came so close after the late Teddy Pendergrass’ “Turn Off the Lights” that there was a very slight similarity in sound in certain spots.

As for her duet with Ms. Streisand, the title was “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough),” whose release was split between both their labels (Columbia put out the 45, Casablanca the 12″ single). I remember reading in a contemporary Us magazine article back in 1979 about the making of the song, that getting the two together to record that song was, essentially, almost equivalent to herding two cats into a room (an analogy courtesy political “comic” Will Durst).

    RIP.

Saw her at Pine Knob where she put on a heck of a concert.

I’m also a longtime Donna Summer fan since my parents have her 12″ vinyl albums from the 1970s. I was sad to learn of her passing since this was a death I didn’t see coming since I didn’t know she had cancer to begin with. After my dad texted me. Even if she contracted Lung Cancer after September 11, she still appeared energetic in the past 10 years. I’ve been reading that she seemed healthy in the past year and nobody else suspected. A light has dimmed in the music community and RIP Donna Summer!!!

Matthew on May 17, 2012 at 4:10 pm

Oh, and who cares that she had a huge gay following? It’s no mystery that a lot of flamboyant Dance-Pop divas attract that crowd. LOL. I’m not making a big deal.Through the years, I found it amusing when you also made jokes about Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson on your tributes to them.

Matthew on May 17, 2012 at 4:31 pm

Some health professionals that responded to 9/11 selflessly gave their time and efforts to help and assist the first responders. One key thing they were attempting to make known was that the filtration devices many were using needed to be replaced hourly with the high concentration of particulate matter flying around. Unprotected, people were certainly exposed to a hazard that would later kill many. R.I.P.

Loved your tribute DS! We agree so very much on many things!

LOVED Donna Summer. Heard the news during the first hour of Rush and I was so saddened. I don’t always feel that way when famous people pass away but I grew up on 70’s disco and Miss Summer was certainly the Queen. “Bad Girls” is my favourite song (of hers) because it rocks! (I agree with DS’ 100% on the filth song mentioned above but I LOVE “I Feel Love” …electronic and I believed produced by Georgio Meroder!)

I am a fan for sure and I hope allllll the strange peeps who rush to iTunes after somebody dies (it annoys me!) to buy her product buy (if they still can) her album called “The Wanderer”. This was an 80’s “new wave” album before “She Works Hard For The Money” and it didn’t sell that well but I have always loved it. The title song is fun and the cover is great!

RIP Miss Donna Summer! Great music from a great broad!

S: I forgot “I Feel Love,” the original old school techno. A great song. DS

That is very sad that she died. She was a good one, alright.

“Sunset People” was always my favorite song by her.

DS_ROCKS! on May 17, 2012 at 5:42 pm

That reminds me: The title track to “The Wanderer,” was an ingenious mix of rockabilly and techno-pop. I heard it for the first time driving in my car at night down an isolated road in the fall of 1980 and was astounded at its wall-to-wall sonic wallop. I turned the dial way up. It should have been a bigger hit.

Donna Summer, R.I.P.

Seek on May 17, 2012 at 6:54 pm

Seek, I agree with you very much! Such a great song. The album is out of print but many forget about it and it’s one of my favs of hers (other than “Bad Girls”) because I love the New Wave influence and music at that time (on the cusp of 80 and 81) has so many lost gems that have a unique feel yet don’t feel dated. What a magical time for music!

Skunky on May 17, 2012 at 7:38 pm

Debbie, from a male perspective, “Love to Love You Baby,” given the beauty of the singer and the sheer eroticism (I spelled that word wrong initially) of her voice, can push hetero males over the edge, too.

I do love her stuff. It’s nice to know her large and delightful heart was in the right place, too. RIP.

Occam's Tool on May 17, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Her passing over is just another sign that our society is changing, and not for the better. That her premature demise may have been the result of Islam is just another strike against against that faith. Of course, since she was Black, Donna Summer would have just been another abed to them.

Worry01 on May 17, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Donna Summer ranks with many of the great musicians of yesteryear. Unfortunately today’s artists belong in the sewer or another continent. I will gladly listen to a NASCAR engine any day of the week over what is now called music.

Confederate South on May 17, 2012 at 8:41 pm

My favorite Donna Summer song is “On the Radio,”

Donna Summer-RIP.

JeffE on May 17, 2012 at 9:06 pm

Debbie I loved what you had to say about Donna Summer.
I took my lunch break today sitting in my car so that I could catch the first 30 minutes of Rush Limbaugh(I could probably listen to him via my work computer but my boss is a die hard lib.)and that’s when I heard the news. You’re right she was a very pretty woman and a talented singer. My older cousins had her poster in their bedroom and I loved coming over to their house just to stare at her. Man what memories. I loved her songs “She Works Hard for the Money”,”Last Dance” and “On the Radio”. On the way to work this morning the radio station that I listen to played “Last Dance”. It turns out that she was one of those rare entertainers that didn’t follow the party line that Palestinians-good Jews-bad. Rest in peace Donna.

Ken b on May 17, 2012 at 9:18 pm

Would you please leave Donna Summer out of your stupidity and hatred ?
For your information, Muslims weren’t responsibles for September, 11th. The responsibles are George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Chenney who made a terrorist attack in their own country to justify a raise of budget for defense and share the interests of military contractors.
And speaking of murders, how about those you are responsible for in Palestine ?

Enough is enough on May 17, 2012 at 9:20 pm

First off nice article and well written and well done Debbie, and thanks for showing respect to the late Ms. Summer, I didn’t listen to too much of her songs, because I was born in the late 1970s going into the early 1980s, but during my childhood days in the 1980s, I heard some of this womans songs.

Now to you “Enough is enough”, thanks for exposing you’re true colors of being a “9/11-Truther” and a conspiracy nutjob, of course muslims did 9/11 you jackass, didn’t you see all of the footage in MANY muslim countries in the middle east in which they were celebrating after their co-religionist assholes nailed us. When I saw them celebrate in many muslim countries overseas on my TV set, I got real pissed off and cursed and using profanity language at my television set, at that time that was the very first time that I had hatred in my heart for those people who attacked us. And yes where supposed to hate our enemies dumbass.

As for so-called Palestine, show me a country on the map named Palestine? If you want Palestine have it with the Jordanian government or the government in the West Bank (there’s a district called the Palestinian Authority)! And as JM said, if you’re a muslim, you’re co-religionist haven’t created anything meaningful in civilization in the last hundreds of years, you nutjobs have created nothing hatred, intimidation, terrorisim, violence, etc.!

    Sean R. on May 17, 2012 at 11:16 pm

Thanks once again, Enough is Enough, for showing us how insane and irrational your disgusting, perverse, and barbaric Islam cult is, you who worship the moon god allah and the dog Mohammed.

Muslims, like you, can simultaneously believe 1) Muslims really didn’t commit the crimes of 9-11, and 2) Celebrate that they did commit them and killed many Americans. How is that for an “enlightened” religion? No wonder your coreligionists haven’t contributed one single thing to civilization.

And, by the way, you HAVE a homeland. It is called Jordan. Why don’t you move back there?

How much does anyone want to bet that Enough is Enough is one of the “moderate” Muslims who have invaded our country?

JM on May 17, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Debbie watching your fellow DS do her thing I can’t help but pay tribute to her plastic surgeon. If I had gotten a nose job that good I probably wouldn’t be living in a shack with a furry friend and shopping for shmatas off season at TJ Maxx. I wouldn’t be sitting around checking my email every 5 minutes to see if you sent me any pictures either. B’H my mind is sharp like a tack and I can learn Torah like Donna Summer (z’l) can dance. Also I’m going to an upsherin next week so I can look forward to schnorring some free Jewish food and kibitzing with my fellow Israelites.

you are pathetic, all your articles and your head both are screwed up completely. do some research before touch your keyboard.
MAY GOD ALMIGHTY GUIDE YOU BEFORE YOU REACH YOUR FINAL DESTINATION (HELL).

nadia on May 18, 2012 at 8:49 am

    Nadia,

I know it’s early and you probably didn’t eat breakfast yet so I’ll type slowly. You obviously have reading comprehension problems if you think that Debbie doesn’t do her research you moron. All of her posts have been found to be more informative on the issues than anything in today’s liberal junkheap media. I know that lib-dunces like you can’t handle facts or the truth so why don’t you pull your head out of your you-know-what. After that go eat a brand muffin, knock down some milk and then take your Obungler lockstepping butt back to the Daily Kooks.

    Ken b on May 18, 2012 at 10:59 am

Oh STFU Nadia, you’re the one who’s freaking pathetic you bimboish dumbass. If you think Debbie doesn’t do anytype of research than answer these questions of mines, honestly, how come that other bloggers, pundits, media people, etc. copy off of her work, plagarize off her work and steal it and don’t credit her? That means that she does her own investigative research, apparently dumbass liberals like yourself can’t handle the truth and the facts. So my advice for you Nadia is to go back to LoonWatch, IslamophobiaWatch, Mondoweiss, Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Democrat Underground, Wonkette, etc!

JM was ONLY telling the truth and being honest with that troll who he or she responded to last night (and I did the samething), as I said to you in my last message, the truth and facts are stubborn to you and you’re left wing ilk of morons. And if you can’t handle the truth Nadia, then I advice you DON’T comment here ever again in you’re miserable life, now get lost and don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out bimbo! 63 IS TOO EFFING YOUNG TOO SOON!

When I was growing up, I tried to fit in by saying “Disco Sucks”.

But I can’t deny “Love to Love You, Baby”, “I Feel Love”, “Hot Stuff” and “She Works Hard for the Money” – they were part of the ongoing soundtrack to my life.

On the Other Side, there is no Auto-Tune. RIP Donna and sleep well – I’ll see you if/when I get there.

Guys , that’s wired she could passed away into ways why u include Islam with that ? If she passed because of the attack as u said don’t forget many incent Muslims died because of this attacks , such a shame to include such huge star with ur hate . Please show ur respect to the others and thank u

Mohammed on May 18, 2012 at 12:24 pm

BTW-
The guitar solo on ‘Hot Stuff’ was played by Jeff (Skunk) Baxter, who was in the Doobie Bros and Steely Dan. Somewhere along the line, Jeff developed ideas that could be put to use regarding weapons systems and after 9/11 became a guy with 2 jobs: musician and consultant to the Pentagon/DHS. Google him and chq it out….

Not Ovenready on May 18, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Um Mohamed let me ask you a question buster, WTF attacked us on 9/11/01, was it A) Muslims, B) Christians, C) Jews, D) Buddhist, E) Hindu/Sikhs, F) Secularist, G) Wiccans or H) None of the above? We all know that the answer is A) Muslims! Another thing Mohamed, Ms. Summer was at the WTC site on that day while you’re co-religionists attacked us that day and she had health issues because of if, and the air around the once WTC site was toxic and unhealthy. As I said to you’re ilk and girlfriend Nadia, if you can’t tolerate the whole truth and facts, than I suggest you don’t comment here again! And when is telling the truth, being honest, etc. considered hateful? I guess the truth and facts are dangerous to lying liars like yourself Mohamed, and don’t you dare try to trick and manipulate us with you’re taqqiya dude!

Sean R. on May 18, 2012 at 12:51 pm

    Hey Sean,

Buddy don’t waste your time. Truth and facts are like soap and water to stinky swarthy Muslim apologists like Mohammed. Just like they’re brain food for liberal potato heads like Nadia. Avoided at all costs.

Many folks are creative in more than one field: The great Hedy Lamarr was not only drop dead beautiful but a physics whiz, too.

I remember her well. Dynamic voice. Great concerts and videos.

Paul on May 19, 2012 at 10:22 am

“I Feel Love” was revelatory, as if she said, “Oh, that Kraftwerk/Brian Eno thing? Way ahead of you on that.” And she got it, that her voice (and the lyrics) were meant to be part of the repetitive techno sound. “I Feel Love” can be slotted into a greatest hits playlist, an alt-rock playlist, a dance set, or some 2:00 am, far right side of the dial electronica show.

I have just about every album she ever made, couldn’t keep a dry eye when I heard the news and still can’t a year later. I remember the rumors floating around that she was a drag queen and I at the tender young age of fifteen strongly disagreed because I knew I wasn’t in love with a man.
I Feel Love, Love to Love you Baby, Lucky Sunset People, her appearance in Thank God its Friday and many other performances. She was my all time favorite and I will truly miss her dearly. RIP
